This was a fun project, where I involved my online community in a publci-opinion poll of which sort of friendly ocean creature they wanted to see visiting us through this porthole window.
I first painted the faux wood wall (mural itself is on cinder block), followed by the ocean, sky, and porthole hardware itself. Once all that was in place, I made mockups of 4 different cute animal options, and put them out for the world to decide.
This adorable seal, who had trended in meme circulation some years before, was far and away the crowd favorite. This was a great way to engage with my community, and involve them in the making of the art.
