I saw a great photo online from Cindy Brown at www.cindybrownphoto.com, and just had to work through a painting inspired by it. I didn’t have any sparkler effects in any of my paintings at that time, and most of my work had been farther zoomed out, attempting to capture a whole scene. I loved the drama of this close up angle, the chiaroscuro lighting, and am grateful for Cindy’s willingness to let me work from her photo.
